Katie MacDonald
Katie Macdonald graduated from the University of St Andrews in June 2011 with a B.Sc. in Ecology and Conservation. She took a variety of different modules including ecological modelling; conservation management; animal-plant interactions and a final year research project on the adaptive evolution of three-spined sticklebacks. During the summer of 2009 she joined a research group in Peru and collected count surveys on river dolphins, caimans and other Amazonian species. The following year Katie volunteered in Kenya for two months with an independent organisation which aims at empowering and educating communities that are susceptible to certain health problems (e.g. malaria, typhoid). In January 2012 she joined Xeroshield as a full-time member of staff and devotes her time to the ticks and Lyme disease project.
